Protest the Hero AnnounceKezia 10th Anniversary Tour with Original Bassist and Drummer

Protest the Hero - KeziaFirst, the good news: Protest the Hero announced last night that they’d be doing a brief tour to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Kezia, their first album. Though IMO Protest have since eclipsed what they did on Kezia, a band’s first album is always going to be special and this one has become something of a cult classic.

Second, the better news: original drummer Moe Carlson (who left in 2013) and original bassist Arif Mirabdolbaghi (who quit in 2014) will be on board for the run. When Arif left, the band went out of their way to say they’d be “open to his involvement” in the future, and it’s cool to see that they really meant it.

Now, the bad news: the tour is only 12 dates long, all in the band’s native Canada. D’oh! In the official statement on the band’s website — posted below — the band says these are the “first Kezia 10th Anniversary shows,” which we can only hope means there will be more booked soon:

We have been waiting to announce this little gem for a while now! Ever since we put up our “portal” for people to submit their Kezia memories / experiences for our scrap book, we noticed a huge demand for us to do a run of shows where we play this bad boy front to back. So we thought to ourselves…. “Why the frig not?”

Very proud to announce our first Kezia 10th Anniversary shows across Canada!

Even prouder to announce that we will be doing this thing with our original lineup! Yes, that means that Moe and Arif will be returning to the stage to indulge in a little bit of nostalgic magic.

We hope you can make it out to one of these because given all of our busy schedules, this isn’t going to be an ordinary occurrence… Tickets go on sale shortly so keep an eye out this coming week. We just wanted you to hear it from us first.

Now, we get down to remembering all these notes!

Venues haven’t been announced yet — only dates and cities, which you can see on the tour admat above — but the band promised that tickets will go on sale soon. Stay tuned to their website, Facebook or right here on MetalSucks for the latest.
