The Defiled Get in The Guinness Book of World Records for Playing on an Iceberg

0

Did you catch The Defiled playing that iceberg in Greenland, dude? Of course you didn’t, because you weren’t one of the guys in the band, on the boat, or behind the camera. Regardless, the London-based metal band did play a thirty-minute live set on an ice platform in Greenland as part of Jagermeister’s Ice Cold Gig series. You can watch a mini-documentary about it below:

Kind of cool, right? I don’t much love The Defiled’s music, but hey, who cares, it’s cool that they had the balls to play metal live on a piece of ice floating in the ocean. I’d shit myself.

Even cooler is that, according to Metal Hammer, the band will be featured in the 2016 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records as the first band to play on an iceberg.

A little cheesy? Eh, maybe, but Christ, it’s kind of awesome that a bunch of heavily-tattooed dudes in black leather got that record. You’d think some folk band from Greenland would’ve beaten them, but no, it’s a metal act. So now it’s up to the metal bands of the world: how long can YOU play a set on an iceberg? Can you break thirty minutes without causing an avalanche? Live your dream!*

We’ll let you know if any other metal bands enter the annals of history, but somehow we doubt that happens more than once a week.

*MetalSucks strongly advises its readers not to live your dream, and accepts no responsibility for personal injury or crushing disappointment caused by doing so.
