Textures Announce TWO New Albums and a European Tour

0

Textures - PhenotypeDutch progressive metallers Textures take their sweet time between albums. Fans waited three and a half years between the release of Silhouettes in 2008 and Dualism in 2011, and it’s already been four full years since the latter.

But it’s never for lack of craft: the band that wrote the book on djent (but don’t call them that!) just likes to make sure that everything is pitch-perfect. Was Dualism worth the wait? Abso-fucking-lutely. And we’re sure the next TWO albums that Textures just announced are gonna be worth it too.

That’s right: Textures have announced two new albums, Phenotype and Genotype — to be released separately, not as a double-album — in early 2016 and at some point in 2017, respectively. Based on the similar titles, it seems as if both albums play off a common theme, very similar to the way their peers in The Ocean released the closely-linked Heliocentric and Anthropentric six months apart in 2010.

Here’s what the band offers on these two new masterpieces via press release:

‘PHENOTYPE’, the first album to be released on February 5th 2016 via Nuclear Blast, is a 60-minute long song-based album. TEXTURES present an eclectic overview of what modern metal has to offer. Catchy, innovative and progressive songs are what TEXTURES stand for.
The new virtuosos Uri Dijk (synth) and Joe Tal (guitar) deliver a new, harmonic vibe to the mature TEXTURES sound.

‘GENOTYPE’, which will be released a year later, is a 45-minute long conceptual track. The root material of which ‘PHENOTYPE’ consists of is presented in this song, but in a totally different context: TEXTURES go out-of-the-box. More proggy, more atmosphere and lots of extra layers to fill the last gaps left in this extensive double rollercoaster ride.

Holy fucking fuck am I excited, my past managerial connection to this band not withstanding! I was a fan first, after all.

Textures will hit the road in Europe this winter to support the release of Phenotype. Dates for that below. Meanwhile, be on the lookout for a new track to drop sometime very soon, we hope.
