Former Slipknot Drummer Joey Jordison Has Recorded a New Album

Man, it’s hard being a drummer: ninety-nine times out of a hundred, even if you’re a member of a really famous band, you leave that band, and it’s like no one notices.

Just ask Joey Jordison. Since being fired from Slipknot in 2013, the diminutive drummer has done… well, nothing much! I mean, vocalist Henry Derek Bonner split from Jordison’s other band, Joey Jordison’s Scar the Martyr featuring Joey Jordison, but no one really cared about that band in the first place so everyone was just like “Pppfffttt whatever.” Even when it seemed like JJSTMFJJ were back in the studio, it barely registered as a blip on the metal world’s radar.

Now Mabberblouth reports that Jordison “has completed work on a new studio album with producer Kato Khandwala.” Unfortunately, we don’t know really know what that album is. Apparently, former Korn backing singer (or “support vocalist”… I dunno what the PC term is these days) Kalen Chase is involved. But does that mean Chase is the new singer for JJSTMFJJ? Maybe this particular project started as the new JJSTMFJJ album and ended up being Joey Jordison’s Something Else featuring Joey Jordison.

Regardless of whatever it is, the chances of it being good seem kinda slim: neither JJSTMFJJ nor Jordison’s other non-Slipknot project, Joey Jordison’s Murderdolls featuring Joey Jordison, were very good, and Khandwala’s credits include work for The Pretty Reckless, Papa Roach, Breaking Benjamin, Drowning Pool, and Cold. Oh well.
