Obscura Counting Down to Something or Other

Did you know that legendary filmmaker Fritz Lang allegedly invented the countdown? The story goes that he figured out counting backwards to “zero” was the best way to keep the audience in suspense, because if you counted up, the viewer wouldn’t know where the count ends — and therefore wouldn’t know when the bomb was gonna explode, or the ship was gonna launch, or whatever. Clever guy, that Fritz.

Horrible segue: Obscura are the latest band to post such a countdown clock on their website. As of this writing, it’s counting down from a little over a week.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess that the band is counting down to a new album announcement, possibly even accompanied by a debut single. That would be grand, wouldn’t it?
