Watch Marty Friedman Rip on this EMGtv Clip

0

EMGtv has been doing a great service to the metal community by putting out top-tier studio performance clips for the past few years. The pickup company’s goal is of course to reach guitarists and sell more product — which I’m reasonably certain they’ve been doing seeing as these videos keep coming — but the coolest thing about these clips is that they’ve got appeal to musicians and non-musicians alike. If you’re a fan of any of the artists they’ve featured you should be able to appreciate the close-up look they offer.

EMG’s latest comes from Marty Friedman, who can be seen here performing “Amagi Goe” from his 2009 album Tokyo Jukebox. I like to think that Friedman’s got such a great grasp on melody and songwriting that he’s the kind of artist who can connect with everyone, even though he’s a solo instrumentalist — although I’m a guitarist too, so I may be biased — but that certainly dovetails nicely with the concept of EMGtv clips having broader appeal, too. Check it out below.

Friedman just announced a batch of new U.S. tour dates with Holy Grail in February. Get dates here, and if you live anywhere near one… make sure you go! We saw him on his first run this fall and it was an absolute blast.
