Fiona Apple When the Pawn

I loves me some Fiona Apple, and although I can practically hear a lot of you rolling your eyes, you can all go fuck goats, ’cause I know plenty of other metal folk who dig her, too. So I’m not, like, shocked by this message DEP guitarist Ben Weinman posted on Instagram… but I certainly wasn’t expecting it, either.

For my money, When the Pawn… is still Apple’s best album, which I think is largely due to Jon Brion’s involvement. Given that trashed and re-recorded* her next collaboration with Brion, I doubt they’ll ever work together again. But maybe someone can hook Brion up with DEP? Wouldn’t that be amazing?

*Fun fact: the re-recording was done with Mike Elizondo, who played bass on Pawn, and went on to produce Mastodon’s The Hunter.
