This past summer, the editors of MetalSucks hand-picked ten unsigned bands from an open application process to record at Converse Rubber Tracks — Converse’s completely free, state-of-the-art recording studio — in either Brooklyn, NY with producer Will Putney (The Acacia Strain, Suicide Silence, Exhumed), or Boston, MA, with producer Kurt Ballou (Converge, High on Fire, Torche). In the weeks leading up to the recording sessions, we previewed each band, and in the coming weeks we’ll be premiering the finished tracks from all ten! Today, we feature New Jersey’s Organ Dealer.

You can’t accuse Organ Dealer of false advertising: the band’s music is as sociopathically savage as the deathgrind outfit’s name would suggest, and “Insomnia Chamber,” which they recorded with Kurt Ballou at CRT Boston, will almost certainly keep you awake at night. The grimy track certainly has the feel of the nightmarish tricks your mind can play on you when deprived of sleep; it sounds like a remote controlled tornado full of knives and broken glass, slowed down and sped up while it destroys the precise target selected by the wielder. If you woke up in a bathtub full of ice and realized someone had drugged you and taken your kidneys, you’d probably weep desperately; if you woke up in a bathtub full of ice and realized someone had drugged you and taken your kidneys and “Insomnia Chamber” was blasting from a nearby stereo, you’d probably flat out assume you had died and gone to Hell.

Fuck, this song rocks.

Stream “Insomnia Chamber” below. Have the cough syrup handy for when it gives you night terrors.
