Check Out Gary Holt’s New Guitar Painted in His Own Blood

0

We’ve covered artist Vincent Castiglia at pretty great length, but in case you’ve never heard of him, Vincent is an artist who paints dark surrealist portraits in blood — usually his own, but sometimes with that of other people. Check out his Instagram.

Anyway, Vincent presented a very special piece to Slexoder guitarist Gary Holt this past weekend at NAMM — a guitar painted with Holt’s blood. Apparently, Castiglia drew eighteen vials (!!!) of Holt’s blood backstage at a Slayer show in Long Island, and the guitar is the result. Check it out:

Damn. That’d be a pretty fucking cool design even if it wasn’t illustrated in someone’s blood. Good on Castiglia. If you have a bunch of money and don’t get light-headed easily, hit him up and get something illustrated in your blood. (Whether or not the artist provides cookies and OJ afterwards has not been specified as of press time.)

Holt says he’s going to play the instrument out on tour, so keep your eyes peeled for the blood guitar on Slayer’s upcoming tour with Testament and Carcass. In the meantime, our sister site, Gear Gods, has video of Holt performing on his signature guitar at the ESP Booth during NAMM 2016, followed by fan Q&A. You can check that out below, and peep all of Gear Gods’ NAMM 2016 coverage right here.
