Mental Health America of Los Angeles to Honor Late Suicide Silence Vocalist with “The Mitch Lucker Clothing Closet”

Rather heart-warmingly for band with such a nasty moniker, Suicide Silence continue to honor their original vocalist, Mitch Lucker, who died more than three years ago in a tragic motorcycle accident. The band’s latest tribute to their fallen comrade, according to Lambgoat, is “The Mitch Lucker Clothing Closet,” stationed at a homeless healthcare center operated by Mental Health America of Los Angeles. The closet will contain clothes donated for homeless people suffering from mental illness, and will be paid for with the proceeds from a benefit concert the band played this past December.

Here’s the band’s statement on the subject…

…and here’s a statement from MHALA:

“We are honored to have been the beneficiary of a charity concert held by the band Suicide Silence. Their donation is helping us to build our homeless healthcare center where people living on the streets with mental illness can come and get their needs met. This center will help people get connected to the services that they need. The band has chosen to name our clothing closet in honor of their departed lead singer, Mitch Lucker, who helped begin the legacy of giving that led them to us. We could not be more grateful. Thank you to Suicide Silence and to your compassionate fans!”

This strikes me as an exceptional way to recognize Mitch and ensure that his memory lives on. It’s also incredibly menschy of the Suicide survivors. There may not be a fucking God, but there are still good men on this earth.
