Dave Mustaine Thinks He Knows Why People Hate Him, Has No Fucking Clue

It’d be one thing if Dave Mustaine was the kind of jerk who understood why he was a jerk. Even Varg Vikernes has come out in interviews being like, “I’m a racist, fuck off,” which allows all of us to say, “Great, fuck off yourself.” But what makes Mustaine such a tragic putz is that he seems blissfully, and maybe willfully, unaware of why people take issue with him.

This is perfectly boiled down in a recent interview the Megadeth frontman did with Westword (what up, Denver!), in which he explained why he’s so hated:

“I think a lot of it goes back to the breakup from Metallica. There are people that have picked up that feud, and they don’t even know why they’re choosing sides. I have nothing against Metallica fans. I was in both bands. I like Lars [Ulrich] and I like James [Hetfield] and, contrary to what people say, I do think Kirk [Hammett] is a good guitar player. In the beginning, when I was bitter, yeah, there was shit going back and forth. They were justifying firing me, and I was telling them that they were wrong. That’s just been perpetuated over and over again. It’s been put to bed. I’ve got no beef with those dudes.”

Really, dude? You think it’s still the Metallica breakup? Come the fuck on.

In case Dave is actually that clueless, here’s a list of possible other reasons why he’s so greatly disliked in the metal community:

• He told African women with too many kids to “put a plug in it.”
• He dishonors the dead by claiming their murders were staged by President Obama.
• He stands behind the dumbass idea that God zapped us onto earth.
• He called his own fan “faggot” and “cunt” before throwing him out of a show.
• He shits on others in his own genre.
• He lies.
• He humiliates his own former employees in high school-style web posts.
• He lies.
• He excuses bad album sales by shitting on the people he worked with.
• He’s preparing a family reality show.

That’s the funniest thing — if Dave Mustaine didn’t do shit like all of the above constantly, I probably wouldn’t mind him. I don’t love Megadeth’s music, but I certainly don’t hate it, and I definitely don’t dislike it due to the fact that Dave was unceremoniously fired from Metallica. If Mustaine’s beef with the band is so squashed, why does he keep referring back to it every goddamn chance he gets?
