Metal Resistance, the sophomore effort from Japan’s Babymetal, seems pre-destined to be this generation’s New Testament — or, at the very least, this generation’s City of Evil. Okay I obviously have no way of knowing if that’s true or not, but the brains behind this operation clearly understand this generation. I mean, just look at the newly-released album art for Metal Resistance:

Babymetal - Metal Resistance

It’s just as boring as the cover for their first album, no?

But like I said — they get this generation: why bother with fancy-schmancy album art when 99% of the listeners will only ever see it as a tiny image on their mp3 player? Just make each cover a different color and add some asteroids and move onto other business. Efficient.

Meanwhile, the track listing for the album has also been revealed. The bad news is, there are no songs about chocolate anywhere in sight. The good news is…

  • There’s a song called “KARATE.”
  • There are two songs that contain exclamation points as part of their title.
  • There’s a song called “KARATE.”
  • There’s a song about St. Anger’s sister.
  • There’s a song called “KARATE.”
  • There’s a song about self-aware plant life.
  • There’s a song called “KARATE.”
  • There’s a song that concisely conveys an important life lesson in its title.
  • There’s a song called “KARATE.”
  • There’s a song in English, which I don’t think Babymetal have ever done before!
  • There is a song… called “KARATE.”
