Exclusive Premiere: Mondo Drag, The Occultation of Light

0

Mondo Drag recently relocated from the cornfields of Iowa to the big city lights of Oakland, and offered the following about their “gee whiz!” experience of moving to a major cultural center:

Since moving to Oakland, we’ve been privy to the large amount of music that flows through a major cultural center. We’ve seen legendary acts like Magma, King Crimson, Goblin, and Yes. We are always trying to expand our sonic range and we definitely explore some new areas on the new album that we’ve not been to before.

That those four bands are the ones Mondo Drag chose to namecheck — and seek out upon arriving in a major metropolis, with hundreds of other cultural experiences available — should tell you most of what you need to know about Mondo Drag if you’ve yet to experience their heavy, psyched out brand of rock. We’re surprised they didn’t also list whatever Doors tribute band is kicking around the Bay Area these days, but we can assume that’s because Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek visit these five gentlemen regularly in their dreams.

Mondo Drag’s third album, The Occultation of Light, comes out on February 26th via RidingEasy Records, but MetalSucks is pleased to premiere it to the world below. Take a listen, and be sure to catch them on tour with Pentagram this spring. Pre-order: digital / physical.
