Withered’s First New Song in Six Years is the Heaviest Thing You’ll Hear Today

0

It’s been a long while since we’ve heard new music from Atlanta death metallers Withered, six years to be exact — the last album they released was Dualitas, in 2010. They haven’t been playing shows lately, either; they toured in 2012 with Marduk and 1349, and while I’m not certain if they’ve done anything since then, if they have it hasn’t been much.

So rejoice! Withered return! Season of Mist will release the band’s new album Grief Relic on May 27th, and Decibel’s got the premiere of a new song from the album called “Husk.” The track finds Withered doing what Withered have always done so well: an unsettlingly gross mixture of death metal, sludge and doom that’ll make your bowels cramp up and your head spin. I’m suddenly very excited to hear this album, and here’s to hoping Withered can get back on the road soon as well.

Pre-order Grief Relic here.
