We started getting excited for the new Kvelertak album when they announced their upcoming tour with Torche and Wild Throne. Well, now it’s official: Kvelertak will release their third full-length, Nattesferd, on May 13th via Roadrunner.

Frontman Erlend Hjelvik has made the following statement:

“We are finally getting ready to release our third album Nattesferd on the world and however cliche it may sound, I’m not afraid to say that this is our best one yet.

“It’s an exquisite smorgasbord of riffs infused with everything between the best of classic rock and heavy metal. I’m certain it will blow the minds of both old and new fans.”

Yes. A thousand times yes.

Along with this announcement comes a new track from Nattesferd, titled “1985”, and it’s very true to Hjelvik’s description. Mid-paced, upbeat, with a strong classic metal vibe (think Saxon, Boston, or the brighter moments of Dio), it’s definite departure from the sinister overtones of some of the band’s previous material.

Anyway, enough talking. Listen to “1985” below. Nattesferd drops May 13th, and their tour starts the middle of next month. Get dates here.
