Hello MetalSucks reader! Welcome to Sh*t That Comes Out Today, your Satanic bible of this week’s heavy new releases. We list ‘em, we spotlight ‘em, we link you to their preview jams and full streams — and we usually stick ‘em in a fancy Spotify playlist too (below) — all for your jammage! Now crank this sh*t up.

The AlgorithmThe Algorithm
Brute Force (Fixt)
On a playlist with: Perturbator, the tech-death Skrillex
Listen Brute Force full stream (here)

The beef with “heavy” electronic music is that usually it’s not for-real heavy. Or, even metal. The Algorithm writes metal, just with electronic beats ‘n’ sh*t, not the other way around. Anyone familiar with 2012’s Polymorphic Code will now have deduced that the formula is indeed a winner. For reasons esoteric, 2014’s Octopus4 wasn’t as electrifying. Brute Force finds this French producer properly encoding blood and sweat into electrons and memes.

EntheosEntheos
The Infinite Nothing (Artery)
On a playlist with: The Faceless, Archspire, Soreption
Listen “The Infinite Nothing” (here)

Now, good ol’ (actually, new) tech-death without fancy e-beats and womp-womp. Great guitarists are a dime-a-dozen, unfortunately — drummers less so, ditto: vocalists. To do it right, everyone’s gotta be siiick but politely reserved and slightly pretentious. That’s where The Infinite Nothing fits in: it’s crush-this and smash-that, but definitely doesn’t hide the fact that it’s a swoon-y prog album at heart (daw).

·

HyperionHyperion
Seraphical Euphony (Black Lion)
On a playlist with: Batushka + The Black Dahlia Murder + Panopticon
Listen Seraphical Euphony full stream (here)

Super-fast classic black metal with true atmosphere — this sounds like it’s been done before! Perhaps it has, yet this fact does not detract from Seraphical Euphony, which is so all-encompassingly fantastic that you may actually experience separation anxiety. Especially for a debut release, it’s brilliant how effortlessly and fluently Hyperion have expressed what can only be described as a boner-inducing amalgam of approximately 4.8 million notes.

·

MurdryckMurdryck
Antologi MMXV (Black Lion)
On a playlist with: see above
Listen Antologi MMXV full stream (here)

Concurrent companion albums are a matter of chance, just like most other things in life. It’s uncanny how deliciously/effortlessly Antologi MMXV melds with Hyperion’s Seraphical Euphony (above). This album: more playful. That album: meaner. This album: more unyielding. That album: more variation. Both albums: f*cking undeniably fantastic, even if black metal isn’t your thing, because now it is.

·

Piss VortexPiss Vortex
Future Cancer EP (Indisciplinarian)
On a playlist with: Dendritic Arbor, Yautja, turd tornado
Listen Future Cancer EP full stream (here)

True joy comes from engaging in a serious discussion about a band who’ve named themselves Piss Vortex. Facing your non-metal friends, jury style, you’re tasked with explaining all the intricacies and complexities of this dynamite-fueled sonic brain-flatus. You gotta get complicated ‘n’ sh*t: talking about sui generis meaning, sensationalized deconstructionism, and the subhuman politics of transdimensional warfare, etc. It’s real impressive.

·

godzilla blackGodzilla Black
Press The Flesh (Quisling)
On a playlist with: other pointless holidays
Listen “First Class Flesh” (here)

To many: this can only be an April Fool’s Day gag. A simple jest. A fart. Horsefeathers at best. To some, though: glistening brilliance. Q for the latter group: why, and how much of that nondescript glowing fluid did you drink without asking? If there’s truly a “takeaway” here — a freaking life lesson or something — it must involve that royally doped-up kitten. It goes to show that cats can sell, especially when they’ve been forced into bullsh*t they don’t like (e.g. album cover shoots). Will it sell you?
