Devin Townsend’s Autobiography Only Half There Now Has a Release Date and Pre-Orders!

0

Remember nearly TWO YEARS AGO when we told you that Devin Townsend was working on a book? Part autobiography, part personal philosophy, Only Half There promised to be a fascinating read from the get-go, but Devin certainly made us wait for it… no surprise given his incredibly hectic recording and touring schedule, but rare for a guy who usually pumps out material with startling regularity.

But we no longer need to speculate or wait: Rocket 88, the book’s publisher, just sent out notice via email that Only Half There will be released in August, with pre-orders shipping in July. Here’s what else they told us:

It’s Devin’s autobiography
It includes previously unseen photos from his scrapbooks
Every book comes with a CD of newly recorded music, titled Iceland

And that is just the Classic Edition; the Signature, limited edition, comes with a load more goodies.

Pre-order now to:
• Get discounted prices on both editions
• Be a part of the book and have your (or a friend’s) name printed in the Roll of Honour – although there’s only a month to make sure of that, so do it now.

Here’s what Devin himself has to say about it:

I thought writing a book was going to be easy. It wasn’t. Writing about growing up, music, the creative process and connection between personal development and ‘career’ made me think about a lot of other stuff, too. Like the positive and negative experiences of making different albums, and how each one affected me mentally, physically and emotionally. It’s all here, though, from my childhood to working with Steve Vai, forming Strapping Young Lad and the Devin Townsend Project, to Casualties of Cool and finding myself only half there.

The book is more than 300 pages long bound within a hardcover. The “Classic” package comes with a CD of newly recorded music titled Iceland, and includes previously unseen photos from Devin’s scrapbooks. The Signature version contains that same book (but with a different jacket) signed by Devin, a signed cassette tape of previously unreleased demo recordings titled Ancient, and four unique, small prints of cartoons drawn by Devin himself, all in a numbered, limited edition box. Yowza!

Pre-order the book, hear a sample of the music on the book’s audio component, and learn more at DevinTownsendBook.com.
