Metallica Kill 'Em All deluxeHello MetalSucks reader! Welcome to Sh*t That Comes Out Today, your Satanic bible of this week’s heavy new releases. We list ‘em, we spotlight ‘em, we link you to their preview jams and full streams — and we usually stick ‘em in a fancy Spotify playlist too (below) — all for your jammage! Now crank this shit up.

omophagiaOmophagia
In The Name Of Chaos (Unique Leader)
On a playlist with: Deeds Of Flesh, Beneath The Massacre, Neuraxis
Listen In The Name Of Chaos full stream (here)

For super-brutal modern death metal, In The Name Of Chaos is pretty much the potato. That’s to say: a million uses, but all require salt. Omophagia have written a textbook album, and that’s cool because super-brutal modern death metal never gets old. That’s to say: it’s okay to sometimes give people a pass on innovation. Not every record has to re-record our records of its musical sub-type/genre or some shit.

droughtDrought
Rudra Bhakti (Avantgarde)
On a playlist with: Lycus, a doomy Macabre Omen, Chthe’ilist
Listen Rudra Bhakti full stream (here)

Drought is what it sounds like. A mind-drought. A vacuuming out of all humidity, moisture, puddles, etc. Essentially this means life dies. But there’s also this mystical aspect to Rudra Bhakti which makes it, ironically, hopeful. Think of things like rituals and seances. Objects with connotative meanings, humans acting in unison, symbolically. But also think of loud, manically heavy beast-doom from Planet Zyklonagor.

·

The Golden GrassThe Golden Grass
Coming Back Again (Listenable)
On a playlist with: Mos Generator, Lord Fowl, The Skull
Listen Coming Back Again full stream (here)

Sometimes, metal sucks. So get away, and slow down. The Golden Grass writes forward-thinking mild rock with gentle psychedelic vibes. It’s therapeutic, actually: enough grain and grit to maintain whetted-ness, but not the full double cheeseburger. No harm in saying that if you drove into a new city and just dicked around with the FM knob and heard this, you’d keep it on… and turn it up.

·

GoatessGoatess
Purgatory Under New Management (Svart)
On a playlist with: Sleep, a more classic Dreadnaught, Electric Wizard
Listen “Purgator Under New Management” (here)

Goatess have good style. Not to mention solid tunes. And naming your album Purgatory Under New Management (plus a title track!) basically means you don’t take any horseshit. This is declarative statementing at its finest. Inside you’ll discover stoner blues-doom of the absolute highest caliber. Soon, and I bet my top dollar, you’ll be levitating on psychophototropic clouds of interdimensional cotton candy with a grin to ear-to-ear it hurts your face musculature!

·

AliassAliases
Derangeable (Basick)
On a playlist with: The Safety Fire, Intervals, Rectangles
Watch Derangeable full stream (here)

Wow, djent stuff with clean singing and lotsa get-up-‘n’-go groove. The idea is as overdone as a Waffle House steak. Aliases buys back some cred with obtuse proggy bits and not-bad songwriting. Though it’s like, you leave the album wanting more, right? You heard this progression of special noises and tones, but nothing’s different on the inside. Just cold, just bland, just meh.

·

Howls Of EbbHowls Of Ebb
Cursus Impasse: The Pendlomic Vows (I, Voidhanger)
On a playlist with: Plebeian Grandstand, Skáphe, Artificial Brain
Listen Cursus Impasse: The Pendlomic Vows full stream (here)

Seeking the right soundtrack to improve the guest experience at the gates of hell, Satan enthusiastically chose Howls Of Ebb’s new Cursus Impasse: The Pendlomic Vows. It was a goddamn great choice. This way-experimental black metal pushes serious boundaries, plus it makes you imagine sick fucking shit like thousands of bodies being mechanically vivisected at the bases of two infinitely tall towers of fire and jellied blood.
