Earlier this month, I expressed my excitement over Old Souls, the upcoming new album by Denver’s Wayfarer. A bleak yet inspiring blast of occult nature worship that was produced by Dave Otero (Cobalt, Khemmis), Old Souls is a powerful gust of modern black metal, never choosing sides between the atmospheric and the crushing but instead constantly harnessing the energies of both.

Now, we can offer you a taste of it. We’re pleased to premiere “Deathless Tundra” for you. Like all the songs on the album, it has an environmental bent–not that it’s about how we’re killing Mother Earth with industry and pollution, but that it conveys a sense of location, channeling the will of a place and the brutal laws of nature that govern it. It can be easy to forget that nature is as utterly destructive as it is nurturing; Wayfarer seek to remind us of this.

Listen to “Deathless Tundra” below. Old Souls comes out June 17th on Prosthetic. You can pre-order it here.
