Rob Zombie Digs in Further on His Love for Babymetal After Seeing Them Live

0

Among our favorite headlines last week was metal luminary Rob Zombie’s discovery of Japanese pop/metal sensations Babymetal. But even better than his appreciation of Babymetal — after all, members of Slayer, Anthrax, Deftones, Dragonforce and tons of other notable metal bands have already voiced their support — was the fact that he actively engaged with naysayers on his own Facebook page with a bit of trash-talking and trolling:

The story caught fire on the Internet, so naturally interviewers have begun asking him about it. Blabbermouth tell us that Minnesota radio station 93X asked Zombie about Babymetal at a festival in the Twin Cities over the weekend, and he dug in further, having finally seen the band perform live:

I saw them the other day for the first time. I mean, I’d seen videos and stuff, but I saw them live for the first time the other day, and I just loved it; it was like nothing I had ever seen before. I mean, it was just like… Leave it to the Japanese to find a way to make fucking death metal cute. But it was awesome. And the crowd… The crowd was going fucking apeshit. The amount of crowdsurfing and stage diving and just complete mayhem, which made it even funnier, ’cause it’s three cute little girls doing fucking karate on stage and shit, and these guys [that are backing them] are dressed like ghosts, all in white. It’s the most bizarre fucking thing. It’s totally worth watching; it’s so good.

And that’s exactly it, right? Babymetal are so good!

What he’s saying about the crowd at the show is right on the mark, too — I saw Babymetal in NYC a couple of weeks back, and it was one of the craziest shows I’ve been to in ages! So much crowd-surfing. What’s more, it was also one of the most diverse metal shows I’ve been to, ever: old, young, men, women, black, white, metalheads, normies… it was a veritable melting pot all united in their love of this bizarre band.

Here’s to hoping for a Zombie/Babymetal collaboration entitled “Yeeeeeah! See youuuuuu!” coming some time in the near future.
