Before there were blogs there were these things called magazines, and the only metal magazine we still get excited about reading every month is Decibel. Here’s editor-in-chief Albert Mudrian…

Six years ago, unknown California trio Nails blew Decibel’s face off with the not-even-14-minute Unsilent Death LP. So much so that we immediately gushed about its savage amalgam of hardcore, grindcore and death metal to both Kevin Sharp and Shane Embury. So, imagine how we felt when Nails were added to a fall 2010 Venomous Concept tour? Anyway, enough about how fucking great Decibel is. You already know that.

What you really need to know (if you don’t already) is how fucking great Nails are. A good first step towards enlightenment is picking up a copy of our July 2016 issue, which features Nails on the cover and suggests that they just might have delivered the album of the year in You Will Never Be One of Us.

“Never would we think we’d get the opportunity to be among the ranks of some of our favorite modern bands—Converge, Neurosis, Behemoth, Hatebreed, Napalm Death… the list really goes on and on—and grace the cover of our favorite metal magazine, Decibel,” says Nails frontman Todd Jones. “It’s quite a feeling of achievement and validation when we open our mailboxes only to see our faces on the cover of a magazine which all three of us have subscriptions to. All thanks and praise to Decibel and everybody who is anticipating the release of our new album You Will Never Be One of Us.”

Domestic subscribers can expect to receive this issue within the next two weeks. If you don’t have a Decibel subscription—and, really, what’s your fucking problem?—you can grab a copy of the Nails cover issue right here.

The July 2016 issue of Decibel can be purchased here, and also features Ghoul, Emperor, and Katatonia. But why not just get a full subscription? All three members of Nails have ’em!!!
