Hello MetalSucks reader! Welcome to Shit That Comes Out Today, your Satanic bible of this week’s heavy new releases. We list ‘em, we spotlight ‘em, we link you to their preview jams and full streams — and we usually stick ‘em in a fancy Spotify playlist too (below) — all for your jammage! Now crank this shit up.

·

Sol SistereSol Sistere
Unfading Incorporeal Vacuum (Hammerheart)
On a playlist with: Panopticon, Agalloch, Wolves In The Throne Room
Listen “Death Knell” (here)

Major glut: atmospheric black metal. Many players, few winners. The attempt is to illustrate strong emotion — usually, the steep peaks and valleys which together paint an awe-inspiring landscape. So as far as landscaping goes, consider Sol Sistere as God or Jesus or whothefuckever. Unfading Incorporeal Vacuum is a powerful journey with lots of nuance; also, blastbeats.

·

cough stilltheyprayCough
Still They Pray (Relapse)
On a playlist with: YOB, Electric Wizard, Pallbearer
Listen Still They Pray full stream (here)

Invariably you’ll tire of the old-school revamp doom albums of late. Still They Pray doesn’t escape this fate, but at least raises fists (figuratively and literally). Also there’s the whole “cough” thing — not the Cough thing (will it ever be a thing?), but the *cough* thing like, this new Cough album is okay *cough*.

·

HellyeahHellyeah
Unden!able (Eleven Seven)
On a playlist with: Linkin Park, Insane Clown Posse, emergency urological surgery
Listen “I Don’t Care Anymore” (here) “Human” (here)

!nv!t!ng attention !s easy w!th sh!t mus!c! Unden!able !s unden!ably, pred!ctably terr!ble. L!ke, !ntr!ns!cally and !rreparably so. !t’s -core someth!ng, and w!ll be gleefully !ngested en massead !nf!n!tum. We oh-so d!scern!ng mus!c l!steners just don’t hear !t.

·

GevurahGevurah
Hallelujah! (Profound Lore)
On a playlist with: Arnold Schwarzenegger in End Of Days
Listen Hallelujah! full stream (here)

Some elderly man/woman will discover Hallelujah! via newfangled technology (e.g. the Google) and then gasp in total fucking horror: 1) this is not a gospel/praise album, 2) this is a gospel/praise album. Reality, shattered to bits! How can this be? Well, it’s the lyrical content, duh. You can make some of it out; nevertheless, the music is the trve divine light here.

·

Dark FuneralDark Funeral
Where Shadows Forever Reign (Century Media)
On a playlist with: Darkthrone, Immortal, Marduk
Listen “Where Shadows Forever Reign” (here)

Times are high when there’s more Dark Funeral! It’s been seven years since Angelus Exuro Pro Eternus and 20 years since an album title in English. The noise should neither surprise nor disappoint. To some this is bad (no controversy) yet to others it’s a plus (consistency). However you’re digesting it, Where Shadows Forever Reign is the average Type 4 on the Bristol Black Metal Scale.

·

Poison Headache Poison_HeadachePoison Headache
Poison Headache (Metal Blade)
On a playlist with: Hatebreed, Converge, turning on the radio w/o vomiting
Listen “Sin Eater” (here) “Conspirator” (here) “Gray Skies” (here)

Some things in life just make you say “yeah baby,” even if you never say “yeah baby” or anything exclamatory otherwise. Poison Headache by Poison Headache is metal. Lean metal, leaner than veal. Think non-boring metal, classic metal, fresh metal. So much metal it had to branch out into hardcore just to find more pow. Metal for one-hitters and metal for addicts. Metal for all! And after Hellyeah you thought there simply wasn’t any hope…
