Turnstile Release Two New Songs, Announce Move Thru Me EP

Turnstile - Move Thru MeTurnstile signed with Roadrunner Records earlier this year, but they were kinda weird about it; they let the news kinda seep out instead of making an announcement. I guess they were worried signing with a major would damage their cred, which is a legitimate worry in hardcore circles. For what it’s worth I don’t see that move changing their sound one bit; sources tell us the staff at Roadrunner are bending over backwards for these guys, and I expect Turnstile will make exactly the album they want to make without compromising one bit.

Before the Roadrunner era kicks off, Turnstile will release the Move Thru Me EP on September 16th via Pop Wig Records. “Come Back For More” and “Harder On You” come from Side A of the 7″, and both are streaming now via Stereogum. These tracks are heavier on Turnstile’s hardcore roots than they are on the ’90s noise worship side of their sound I’m more fond of — as on my #1 favorite album of 2015 Nonstop Feeling — but I gather that’s the idea here: one last hardcore release on an indie before stepping up to the big leagues and, I’d wager, going more metal. They’re still pretty darned good tracks, though. Check ’em out below.
