I don’t know if this is just dumb luck or a sign of the end times, but two supergroups we’ve been hearing about seemingly for-ev-er are actually gonna get around to releasing some music this year. First up was Giraffe Tongue Orchestra, featuring members of Alice in Chains, Mastodon, and The Dillinger Escape Plan; now here comes Serpentine Dominion, the project from Cannibal Corpse vocalist (and MetalSucks film critic!) George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher, Killswitch Engage’s Adam Dutkiewicz, and ex-The Black Dahlia Murder drummer Shannon Lucas. After announcing the group’s name and launching a Facebook page last month, they have now, as promised, released a first single: “The Vengeance in Me.”

So, was it worth the wait? Fuckin’ A! Y’know all those mean jokes we make about Adam D. just writing the same goddamn song over and over again? Well, he is definitely not guilty of that here. If Six Feet Under’s Undead was former Chimaira guitarist Rob Arnold’s version of Cannibal Corpse’s The Bleeding, then this sounds like Adam D.’s version of The Wretched Spawn. I’m way into it.

Check out “The Vengeance” in Me below! Serpentine Dominion’s self-titled debut will be out October 28 on Metal Blade. Pre-order it here.
