Prophets of Rage Release Beastie Boys-Inspired “No Sleep ‘Till Cleveland”

0

Prophets of Rage will release The Party’s Over on August 26th, giving fans of the band — members of Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemy and Cypress Hill, if you haven’t been following — a chance to hear them on record before (mostly) they head out on their massive North American tour.

Three of the EP’s five tracks are covers recorded at the band’s live shows, and today we get to hear a re-jiggered version of The Beastie Boys classic “No Sleep ‘Till Brooklyn.” Performed at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland earlier this summer, the band changes the appropriate lyric towards the end of the song to welcome concertgoers to The Great Mistake on the Lake. They also inject some lyrics from Public Enemy’s “Fight the Power” and Tom Morello takes a typically Tom Morellian guitar solo in the middle. All in all it sounds a whole lot like members of Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemy and Cypress Hill covering The Beastie Boys… shocking, I know!

Check it out below via Zane Lowe’s World Record Beats 1 on iTunes Radio. The Party’s Over comes out on August 26th. More info at the band’s official site.
