Hello MetalSucks reader! Welcome to Shit That Comes Out Today, your Satanic bible of this week’s heavy new releases. We list ‘em, we spotlight ‘em, we link you to their preview jams and full streams — and we usually stick ‘em in a fancy Spotify playlist too (below) — all for your jammage!

·

Blood IncantationBlood Incantation
Starspawn (Dark Descent)
On a playlist with: Horrendous, Gorguts, Vanhelgd
Listen Starspawn full stream (here)

Death metal grown in raw soil: Blood Incantation’s echoes charge through thick mixtures of double-bass and death growls, and the songwriting fails to recede. Starspawn is a return to the principals of death metal, re-modernized. It’s a field of depth charges versus an all-out rocket assault, though just at the right moment, all guns go forward. Slight blackened influences make sure everyone finds their favorite part!

·

SpireSpire
Entropy (Iron Bonehead)
On a playlist with: Yodh, Passage d’Hiver, Midnight Odyssey
Listen “Ends” (here)

A towering-above feeling powers Entropy, and synth never goddamn hurt anyone. Cosmic themes underlie quickened swatches of blastbeats; hell and such overtake on the doom interludes. Spire succeeds in tone-setting, and generating the out-of-body feeling some of us seek after a long day of bullshit at the office/whatever. Entropy may be a passé name for an album, but in great form the music speaks otherwise.

·

bewitcherBewitcher
Bewitcher (Divebomb)
On a playlist with: Hellripper, Terrorhammer
Listen “Sin Is In Her Blood” (here)

Fuck yes. Give yourself to be carried away by Bewitcher. Speed, speed, speed! Blackened speed, that is. If you want evil lighter-waving goodness, Bewitcher delivers. No doomy undertones here; shredding reigns forever. It’s racing angrily at 165 m.p.h. in a Lamborghini versus, say, pummeling walls with a Panzer. Impressive for a debut album, which offers much promise for bombastic follow-ups.

·

Marsh DwellerMarsh Dweller
The Weight Of Sunlight (Eihwaz)
On a playlist with: Panopticon, Sojourner, Waldgeflüster
Listen The Weight Of Sunlight full stream (here)

One-man band Marsh Dweller writes classic, rounded-edge black metal. The Weight Of Sunlight (any scientists want to weigh in on how much sunlight actually weighs?) is occluded and soft, but brought to light thru heavy melody and up-tick riffing. It also sounds dynamic, as if many creative inputs were at work — something difficult to achieve for just one person. All hail!

·

HellbringerHellbringer
Awakened From The Abyss (High Roller)
On a playlist with: Slayer, Sodom, Blaakyum
Listen “Awakened From The Abyss” (here)

Fans of old Slayer, not new Slayer of course, will discover great things in Awakened From The Abyss, namely: kill-you riffs, burst vocals, and punk-influenced drumming. There are even mad-as-fuck guitar solos! Hellbringer is not a rip, though. There’s bespoke content and context within the speed, not just speed for the sake of speed; that is to say, just playing fast won’t win you awards, nor will recycling ideas, but raw playing w/ guts will.

imagesJ.B.O.
11 (AFM)
On a playlist with: technical interviews, confinement, Stockholm syndrome
Listen “Panzer Dance” (here)

If you woke up today craving sing-songy German pseudo-metal, then you’re in luck. You also get a puppet show. There’s no rhyme or reason or sanity, it’s absurdity; the absurd becomes (sur)reality, and soon you’re singing along in a language you can’t speak to a song that makes you consider suicide.
