Video: Watch The Dummers of The Dillinger Escape Plan, Protest the Hero, and More Play on a Single Song

0

You know what’s better than a great metal drummer? Nine great metal drummers!

At least Aric Improta of Night Verses thinks so. For his new track, Improta invited some friends of his to take part in a nine-drummer chain, each playing their own parts to a set bpm. The drummers involved in the track are as follows:

Anup Sastry (Jeff Loomis, ex-Monuments)
Mike Ieradi (Protest the Hero)
Matthew Lynch (Trioscapes)
Loniel Robinson (letlive.)
Billy Rymer (The Dillinger Escape Plan)
Aric Improta (Night Verses)
Garrett Henritz (HRVRD)
Alex Bent (Arkaik, Brain Drill)
Joseph Arrington (A Lot Like Birds)

Improta’s bandmates in Night Verses provided the accompanying music.

What’s especially cool is that none of the drummer playing on the song had heard the others’ parts before writing their own. so you can hear each drummer’s distinctive style when they play. Obviously, some go a little harder than others; The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Billy Rymer is especially enthusiastic on his parts. It’s a pretty cool experiment, and the resulting track is pretty interesting to listen to (as a song, it’s all right, but as part of this exercise it rules).

Watch the video below. Metal drum aficionados, close your eyes and see if you can identify each drummer’s style as the song progresses.
