Video: Gojira’s Mario Duplantier Jams with Mastodon’s Bill Kelliher

Gojira just embarked upon a massive North American tour in celebration of their latest album Magma. Mastodon are currently deep in writing mode for their next record, which they expect to be out in the first half of 2017.

Those two things combined = an epic jam session… until it was interrupted by a jealous onlooker, at least.

Before Gojira’s show last night, September 25th, in Atlanta — Mastodon’s hometown — drummer Mario Duplantier got together with Masto axeman Bill Kelliher to make some music. In what will surely become the feel-good, spank-bank hit of the day for prog metal fanboys, things were going quite swimmingly until Mastodon’s Brann Dailor broke up the party in a fit of jealous rage.

It certainly would be fun to dream about the music a Duplantier + Kelliher combo could produce, but for now it seems this was just a for-the-fun-of-it one-off. Although… who knows?
