Ash Borer Walk Through “The Irrespassable Gate”

Californian black metal crew Ash Borer are pretty damn cool (if you find bleak, dramatic sonic suffering ‘cool,’ which one hopes you do). So it’s exciting that they’re releasing a new album this year, and if the title track below is any indication of how it will sound, the album itself will be pretty damn great.

However, the band has titled the album The Irrepassable Gate, and while that doesn’t go full Repentless (‘irrepassable’ is an actual word, I looked it up), it definitely does sound a little ridiculous. Irrepassable? You mean a gate you can only cross one way? I’d almost rather the band went full Nile and explained it in a bunch of small words. “The Gate That Cannot Be Returned Through” or something like that.

Anyway, the track is pretty good, so I guess that complaint doesn’t matter. Listen to “The Irrepassable Gate” (feels dumb to even write it, ugh) below.
