Video: Elders React to System of a Down

Lauren from Fine Brothers Entertainment, the team behind al the miraculous “Elders React” and “Kids React” videos that’ve taken the Internet by storm the past couple of years, writes in to inform us of their latest: “Elders React to System of a Down,” in which seniors watch the band’s hits “Chop Suey” and “Sugar” and offer commentary.

As usual, the video is chock full of choice line after choice line from old people wondering (for example), “I don’t get how the bang their head around like that without getting a concussion,” which is totally something my own grandpa said once when he walked in on me watching Ozzy’s video for “No More Tears” on MTV. “I hope their voice boxes are OK” is another classic line that could’ve been uttered by Mama Neilstein herself.

Kudos to the one guy who says “I actually like their music,” and the woman who name-checks five different sub-genres of metal in the same sentence and genuinely seems to enjoy the band. And at least some of these folks opened up a bit when they learned about the band’s lyrical themes, despite their classification of the music as “just noise.”
