Everyone's Replaceable

Bassist Peter Iwers Leaves In Flames

0

Longtime In Flames bassist Peter Iwers is leaving the band after nearly 20 years.

In a statement posted to In Flames’ Facebook page, Iwers simply cited the desire to “pursue other endeavors” as his reason for leaving, thanking the band and its fans for their support and revealing that the band’s in-progress U.S. tour with Hellyeah will be his last.

Following drummer Daniel Svensson’s exit from the band last year, Iwers’ exit brings the number of members from the band’s “classic” lineup (debatable, obviously) down to two: vocalist Anders Friden and guitarist Björn Gelotte, who have been in the band since 1995 and 1996, respectively. Jesper Stromblad left in 2010.

No future replacement for Iwers has been named.

Peter Iwers granted MetalSucks one of our first ever interviews. He has a true gentleman when we were total n00bs. We’d like to thank him for that, and all the incredible music he’s made with the band. We wish him the best of luck.

Thanks: Cody E.
