Ivan Moody Leaves Five Finger Death Punch Tour Due to Illness, Will Be Temporarily Replaced by All That Remains’ Phil Labonte

Five Finger Death Punch have announced that vocalist Ivan Moody is leaving the band’s currently in-progress tour. According to a press release, the singer “has fallen ill,” although the nature of that illness is unspecified.

Moody’s departure is extra-conspicuous as the result of his self-described “meltdown” during a concert in Connecticut last week. Following the incident, Moody asserted that his behavior “had nothing to do with alcohol [or] drugs.” But something is clearly afoot here. Regardless of the circumstances, we’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: we may not be fans of Moody’s music, but we wish him no harm and hope he gets whatever help he needs, be it for drugs, alcohol, mental illness, exhaustion, athlete’s foot… all of it.

Meanwhile, the band has enlisted All That Remains frontman Phil Labonte to fill-in for Moody on the final eight dates of the tour. Labonte makes perfect sense as a replacement for Moody: we know he and Moody are pals, as evidenced by the above photo (which is actually taken from a Facebook post instructing MetalSucks and Metal Injection to orally pleasure the two vocalists), and I’m sure there’s a good amount of overlap between FFDP and ATR’s respective fan bases (both bands really enjoy firearms). Plus, Labonte has experience stepping in for ailing frontmen: in 2010, he temporarily replaced Howard Jones in Killswitch Engage while Jones was dealing with personal issues.

The remaining dates on the tour are as follows (courtesy of Lambgoat):

Thu – 12/1 – Philadelphia, PA Wells Fargo Center
Fri – 12/2 – Hershey, PA Giant Center
Sat – 12/3 – Huntington, WV Big Sandy Superstore Arena
Mon – 12/5 – Greenville, SC Bon Secours Wellness Arena
