And the New Bass Player for In Flames Is…

… Håkan Skoger. Maybe!

The bassist played with In Flames last night at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. Guitarist Niclas Engelin, who played in the Swedish band Passenger alongside Skoger and In Flames vocalist Anders Friden, also posted the following on Facebook:

Vocalist Anders Friden and guitarist Björn Gelotte are now the two sole remaining members of the “classic” lineup of In Flames (debatable, obviously, but the same five dudes recorded six albums together over a 10 year period). Guitarist Jesper Stromblad left in 2010, drummer Daniel Svensson exited the band last year, and bassist Peter Iwers followed him out the door this past November.

How much difference will a new bassist make? We won’t really know until In Flames record a new album — which should be a couple years still, as they just put out Battles two months ago — but we suspect Skoger is a more-than-capable replacement, at least in the live setting. No word yet on whether he’ll be a permanent member, but we’ll surely find out soon enough.
