Anyone already familiar with NYC noise rock trio Fashion Week will be excited to learn of their pending new album So Last Season, coming in March. And anyone not already familiar with Fashion Week will immediately become excited upon hearing their new song “Lydian Hearst,” which we’re premiering here today.

Always on-topic, “Lydian Hearst” is a play on words of Lydia Hearst, the American fashion model and heiress to the Hearst publishing fortune. It’d be double-sweet if the song utilized the Lydian mode (can any of our music theory-inclined readers out there tell us? our mode recognition capabilities have long escaped us), but either way it’s an absolutely fantastic track. Like Fashion Week have done so well over the years, it seamlessly integrates noise rock with a post-hardcore sense of melody that’s at once abrasive and melancholy.

So Last Season is a full-length collection of rare and unreleased material from the past few years. The release includes two EPs that were recorded prior to 2015’s full-length album Prêt-à-Porter (Solar Flare Records) as well as a non-album B-side entitled “Rich Hallister.” Rounding out the release is Fashion Week’s take on Noise-rock royalties, Helmet’s “I Know” and Unsane’s “Only Pain”  (with Unsane’s Vinny Signorelli on drums!), another track featuring Dave Castillo of Primitive Weapons / White Widows Pact, and two live cuts.

So Last Season will come out on March 2nd digitally and March 21st via physical formats; pre-order here.
