Lady Gaga on Metallica: “Those guys play better than they’ve ever played in their whole lives.”

Avowed metalhead and Metallica-lover Lady Gaga will be performing with her heroes at The Grammys this coming Sunday, February 12th. The pairing might seem odd at first glance, but at least it gives us metalheads reason to watch the telecast, seeing as the metal awards aren’t even shown on air anymore.

Gaga spoke in a recent interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe about how the collaboration came to pass: she was hanging out at actor Bradley Cooper’s house, along with Lars Ulrich, the two got to talking, and you can fill in the blanks for there.

She also said this about Metallica’s live show:

“I’ve gotta tell you something: I went to see [Metallica] live. I mean, I’ve seen them a couple of times live, but I saw them live recently, and we were watching the show and I’ll tell you something, those guys play better than they’ve ever played in their whole lives.”

I mean… OK, Metallica are a whole lot of fun to watch live, but the best they’ve been in their whole lives? I suppose we’ll have to tune in to find out.

Meanwhile, Metallica are heavily rumored to be plotting a summer stadium tour of the U.S. with Avenged Sevenfold and Volbeat. We’ll keep you updated, as will every other metal outlet under the sun.
