Is Ozzy Plotting a Summer Solo Tour?

0

We’ve known for a while now that Ozzy plans to continue writing and performing with his solo band even though Black Sabbath are now done touring. We also know who at least two of his writing collaborators will be: Billy Morrison and Steve Stevens. Both currently play guitar in Billy Idol’s band while Morrison is also known for his work with The Cult and Stevens for his time with Vince Neil’s solo outfit and various other endeavors.

Now we’ve also got proof positive of a live performance: Ozzy will headline the Moonstock festival in Illinois this summer, scheduled to perform “Bark at the Moon” at the exact moment a full solar eclipse occurs.

It seems unlikely Ozzy would book just one U.S. show — although it’s certainly possible — so I’d bet we’ll see some more solo dates crop up in the near future.

It’s unclear who will be in the live band, although longtime bassist Rob “Blasko” Nicholson and drummer Tommy Clufetos (also of Black Sabbath in Bill Ward’s absence) seem a good bet. There’s been no mention of Gus G. in any of the press regarding Ozzy’s future solo endeavors, and Ozzy has said that Stevens won’t be a member of his band… so perhaps Morrison is the new guy? We shall see.

In any case: I’d be pretty stoked for a solo Ozzy tour, despite his advancing age and lack of motion. It’s high time.
