In case you haven’t heard, OC metalcore pioneers Eighteen Visions are reuniting and recording a new album — their first since their eponymous release in 2006. Obviously, if you’re a fan of Eighteen Visions (i.e., MetalSucks’ co-pilots), this is very exciting news…

…as is this: the band’s guitarist, Keith Barney, has released some footage of vocalist James Hart in the studio. So this is the first time any of us have heard any new Eighteen Visions music in eleven years.

The band’s sound evolved a lot over the course of their first run, so until now, there’s been some question of what kind of Eighteen Visions album we’ll be getting. Unsurprisingly, it sounds like they’re heading in a heavier direction than their until-now-final release, which leaned hard on their arena rock influences (basically, Avenged Sevenfold, also from Orange County, were perpetually a few steps behind these dudes, but ended up being way more successful). Hart is screaming his guts out here; I doubt this is album will be, like, Lifeless heavy, or even Vanity heavy, but I think we’re at least getting an Obsession. Which is a-okay by me!

Watch the clip below, then head to the comments section and answer me this: what the hell is James Hart shouting? At first I thought it was “Rent us rats,” but now I think it’s “Ripped to shreds,” and I kinda wish it was, in fact, “Rent us rats.” Discuss.
