Hello MetalSucks reader! Welcome to Shit That Comes Out Today, your Satanic bible of this week’s heavy new releases. We list ‘em, we spotlight ‘em, we link you to their preview jams and full streams all for your jammage. Now crank this shit up!

·

black-ciliceBlack Cilice
Banished From Time (Iron Bonehead)
On a playlist with: Ulver, Hellhammer, Cultes Des Ghoules
Listen “Channelling Forgotten Energies” (here)

Even a super fan of underground black metal could be skeptical of a new album by Black Cilice. One might expect to grimace as its first sounds fill their ears, like “Nuts, I don’t like this any more than his previous stuff that I was expecting to love.” To those people, I’m pumped to report this good news: new Black Cilice rips!!!!

·

darkest-hour-godless-prophets-the-migrant-floraDarkest Hour
Godless Prophets & The Migrant Flora (Southern Lord)
On a playlist with: The Crown, God Forbid, At The Gates
Listen Godless Prophets & The Migrant Flora full stream (here)

Do you remember that 2009 movie It’s Complicated when Jane (Meryl Streep) was asked by Adam (Steve Martin) if her current state of extreme highness was caused by just one hit of weed? And she signals agreement with his state of incredulity, adding “I don’t know what they’ve done to pot in the last 30 years, but it rocks!!” That’s how you feel in the first few minutes of the new Darkest Hour album — especially if the band has been off your radar for a bit.

·

deathwishDeathwish
Unleash Hell (Beer City)
On a playlist with: Motorhead, Municipal Waste, Decomposed
Listen Unleash Hell full stream (here)

To breathe the air in less populous parts of the midwest is to sense silent rage and Twin Peaks-esque madness. So that Northern Wisconsin’s Deathwish is frothing with fury is unsurprising as it is awesome. And yet we could wager that the men of Deathwish are the most sane people for miles. Must jam!

·

planning-for-burialPlanning For Burial
Below The House (The Flenser)
On a playlist with: Pyramids, Mono, The Cure
Listen Below The House full stream (here)

Sometimes an endorsement comes with a warning. Like one for Below The House, this week’s heavy new release that’s most likely to freeze you with suicidal despair. The sane among us are halfway there anyway, so Planning For Burial’s stumbling, groaning doom metal-gaze needs to only nudge us to the noose; Below opts to dump all of its dead weight on us, just to make sure. The sound of a man unraveling.

·

the-furorThe Furor
Cavalries Of The Occult (Transcending Obscurity)
On a playlist with: Decomposed, Waxen, Cradle Of Filth
Listen about half of Cavalries Of The Occult (here)

This week, MetalSucks began a countdown of the most important metal bands of the ’90s, so it’s neat that The Furor’s terrifying new album arrives today: Cavalries Of The Occult sounds darkly insane like ’90s death metal did in comparison to merry thrash metal. And the album aims for future lists that look back on the best metal of the ’10s. Total home run. Awesome guitars.

·

jagged-visionJagged Vision
Death Is This World (Fysisk Format)
On a playlist with: Kylesa, Doomriders, Kvelertak
Listen “Betrayer” “Euthanasia” “Feeble Souls” (here)

We all agree that Mastodon is a huge band and their descendants are pretty awesome, but many of us might wish that they’d be one notch more metal. They’re plenty heavy, but not metal — no big whoop. But if you have ever wished that their riffs were more Coroner and Kreator, welcome to Jagged Vision. Awesome guitars again!!
