Last year, Dead Cross — the new project from Dave Lombardo (ex-Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies), Justin Pearson (The Locust, Retox, Head Wound City), and Michael Crain (Retox, Festival of Dead Deer) — gave a performance at Ozzfest Meets Knotfest that was so incredible, no one actually saw it. Mike Patton, presumably impressed by the band’s ability to make themselves invisible, joined shortly thereafter, and now the group has released their first track with the Faith No More frontman: “Shillelagh.”

The song is… okay.  Maybe my expectations are just too high given the players involved, but I really expected this to knock me flat on my ass, not just press its pointer finger into my chest and tell me to take a walk.

Then again, it includes the lyric “I took a pee and it came out red/ I took a dump and it came out dead,” so there’s that.

Check out “Shillelagh” below. We still don’t know when the band is putting out an album so don’t ask.
