Megadeth to Tour with The Scorpions Later This Year

0

Last month Dave Mustaine teased a mystery tour for Megadeth in late 2017, revealing in an interview that the band would do a headline run in the summer (which we now know will have Meshuggah, TesseracT and Lillake opening) followed by a support trek in the fall with a band they’ve “never played with before.”

The website for LA radio station 93.1 Jack FM just spilled the beans on who that mystery band is: German rock legends The Scorpions! The two bands will play at the forum on October 7th with tickets going on sale this coming Friday and pre-sales starting Thursday. In the very likely event that this show is more than an LA one-off — and why a one-off would be dubbed “The Crazy World Tour” is a mystery — presumably we’ll get an official announcement about the full run any moment now.

On one hand, a Megadeth / Scorpions pairing makes a ton of sense. Aging guitar nerds that love The Scorps almost surely already have some level of appreciation for Megadeth. And for Megadeth it represents an opportunity to get back in front of those people who may’ve lost track of the band in recent years.

On the other hand… no, actually, there is only one hand. It makes perfect sense.

We’ll keep you updated as soon as we learn of dates. Meaning, The Scorps! Matthias Jabs riffs, baby.
