River Black (ex-Burnt By the Sun, Revocation) Release New Track “Low”

0

It feels like we’ve been hearing about River Black forever, even if it’s only been since last year: three of the band’s members — guitarist John Adubato (ex-Burnt by the Sun), bassist Brett Bamberger (Revocation, ex-East of the Wall), and drummer Dave Witte (Municipal Waste, ex-Burnt by the Sun, every band ever) — were previously in Argonauts together along with ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan vocalist Dimitri Minakakis, until Minakakis’s departure in 2012 effectively ended that band.

Now we finally get to hear what that trio of supremely talented musicians sounds like with Mike Olender (also ex-Burnt by the Sun) on vocals: River Black have released a new track called “Low,” the first single from their forthcoming self-titled debut album.

And it’s fucking nasty! It’s pretty much what you’d expect from three former members of BbtS — aggressive, downtuned, driving post-hardcore — and we mean that in the best way possible. Fans of Burnt by the Sun will be thrilled, and while anyone here for the Revocation connection will probably be a bit taken aback, we hope they’ll find something to love, too.

River Black will come out in July on a record label whose owner probably doesn’t agree with the political views of the members of this band.
