Video: Pentagram Perform Without Bobby Liebling, Sound Fucking Great

When it was announced last week that Pentagram would be doing a series of shows with guitarist Victor Griffin on vocals ’cause Bobby Liebling has to go back to rehab, I admit, I was skeptical. Liebling is such a big part of the Pentabrand that I just couldn’t really imagine the band playing without him. I know, I know, Griffin is every bit as much a part of Pentagram’s creative success as Liebling, but still. If you had tickets to go see Iron Maiden and they announced that Steve Harris was doing vocals for the night because Bruce Dickinson was ill, you’d probably want your goddamn back.

But I just watched these videos from one of the Liebling-less Pentagram performances and fuck me naked with a spoon, was my skepticism ever unfounded. The band sounds great. GREAT. Griffin, it turns out, is, at least at this point in history, a better singer than Liebling. Who knew?
