Shit That Comes Out Today: April 28, 2017

Howdy howdy, MetalSucksers. Anso DF is currently on sabbatical from the MetalSucks Mansion, so until he returns I’ll be writing your Satanic bible of all the week’s notable releases. Now I don’t ever remember agreeing to do this — it’s surely the result of some Neilstein black magic fuckery — but nonetheless, he has a signed contract and if I want my Jack Daniel’s privileges in the MS Mansion back, then it looks like I have to do this. So here’s some shit that comes out this week.

abortedfetusAborted Fetus
The Art of Violent Torture (Comatose Music)
On a playlist with: Aborted, Dying Fetus
Listen “Blinded By The Flame” (here)

We have Aborted, we have Dying Fetus and we have Aborted Fetus. Every subgenre needs it’s big three and dead baby metal certainly has its own. If you’re familiar with either of those bands, then you should already know what to expect from Aborted Fetus; lots of guttural vocals, pummeling drums and fast-paced riffs. This band is a good listen for anyone who likes death metal as it has all the staples of the genre, including the short guitar solos.

allthatremainsAll That Remains
Madness (Razor & Tie)
On a playlist with: bleeding ears, bashing your head in with a hammer, brain damage
Listen: “Madness” (here)

Even the most casual reader knows that none of us here at MetalSucks are fans of All That Remains. In an age where we truly thought that ATR couldn’t possibly get any worse than they already were, they seem to have outdone themselves with generic album artwork, generic music videos and even more generic music. Hats off to Phil Labonte and his lyrics: he managed to write a song about war that consists mostly of him repeating his own lines twice, and by my math, that means the title track to Madness is not three-and-a-half minutes, but rather 1.75 minutes long. Anyway, this band sucks but you probably don’t need us to tell you that; if your ears work, then you already know to stay far, far away.

terrorTerror
The Walls Will Fall (Pure Noise/ Triple B Records)
On a playlist with: Hatebreed, Lionheart, Deez Nuts
Listen full album stream (here)

Ah, Terror, the band that got me into hardcore. I’m admittedly not the biggest fan of hardcore now, but every time someone turns on Terror I always dig it, and that hasn’t changed with this EP which clocks in at a whopping nine minutes long. There’s not much new to hear this time; if you love gang vocals and breakdowns then this is definitely an EP you need to check out. It’s aggressive, it’s angry and best of all, it’s some new fucking Terror.

hideousdivinityHideous Divinity
Adveniens (Unique Leader Records)
On a playlist with: Behemoth, Aborted, Azarath
Listen “Ages Die” (here)

Adveniens easily wins the weekly award for coolest album artwork: whatever the fuck that thing is would be the last thing I’d want to run into while walking home alone at night. That stomach-mouth creature paints a pretty clear picture of what you’re in store for with this record: Hideous Divinity are heavy as fuck and any fan of Behemoth will like these guys. Google tells me that the word “adveniens” is Latin for arrival; I know I’m not the only one who was wondering.

aeveriumAeverium
Time (Rough Trade/ Out Of Line)
On a playlist with: Sonic Syndicate, Evanescense, Limp Bizkit
Listen “What About Me” (here)

Uhh, I have absolutely no idea what to think about this band. For the first time in my career shitposting for MetalSucks I really have no words to describe something. They have electronica elements mixed with some Swedish sounding stuff that has some Fred Durst nu-metal sprinkles on top. I’m not sure what genre you’d put these men — and one woman — in, so I’ll just let you listen for yourself and argue about it in the comments section.
