Howdy howdy, MetalSucksers. Anso DF is currently on sabbatical from the MetalSucks Mansion, so until he returns I’ll be writing your Satanic bible of all the week’s notable releases. Now I don’t ever remember agreeing to do this — it’s surely the result of some Neilstein black magic fuckery — but nonetheless, he has a signed contract and if I want my Jack Daniel’s privileges in the MS Mansion back, then it looks like I have to do this. So here’s some shit that comes out this week.
Full of Hell

We’re off to a rather slow album release week to kick off May, but to get things going, we have Full of Hell. These guys have a sound that isn’t exactly what I’d call refined. Not because the quality of music is poor, mind you, but because Full of Hell relish in the noisiness of the music they have created. Think along the lines of what The Black Dahlia Murder did for Abysmal. The raw sound give these guys their edge. PSA: If you ever try ecstasy, don’t trumpet it. Snort it or parachute it and you’ll have a lot more fun.

It’s always nice to hear history when you listen to metal, especially considering that the History Channel is essentially devolved into a front for pawn shop shows. From the band themselves: “‘The World Ablaze’ is our final album in the WWI trilogy. We aimed to create an album that is very dynamic and diverse. It contains typical GD riffing with loads of melodies and catchy hooks. The songs are perfect for our live shows as they contain many mid-tempo parts combined with faster and more brutal parts.”

I love blackened death metal if for no other reason than the dumbfounded look that it puts on people’s faces when you say there’s a type of death metal that’s blacker than normal. Good shit, I say. This week, Hate are the band I get to use to do that to people. They’re a polish act, much in the same vein as Behemoth, and anyone who likes Behemoth will definitely like Hate. If you’re a vocalist, you’ll especially like Hate because I’ve heard plenty of shitty death growls in my time, but Hate’s are extra fucking crispy and delicious.

Man, not even the goth kids I went to middle school with were this shamelessly in love with Marilyn Manson. From the very first off-key not of this song and the Manson-esque whisper-mumble-talking of the first verse, this song sounds worse than passing a kidney stone made of barbed wire feels. It absolutely never ceases to amaze me that this band continues to put out shittier and shittier music that people actually pay for and meanwhile good bands are using kickstarter to get their albums funded. Fuck you, Motionless In White. Stop making music.

Slaughter To Prevail are a nice throwback to when deathcore was still a budding subgenre. They have that raw, no-frills deahtcore sound that made I Declare War so good and the chugginess of Despised Icon. Misery Sermon is Salughter To Prevail’s debut album and although it looks promising, we really don’t need another band to get up on stage with any member — in this case the vocalist — wearing a mask. Slipknot and Gwar get passes, but other than that, it’s something that needs to stop.
