Seeker Claim That Being on Victory Records Has Cost Them Touring Opportunities

Victory Records is shady as fuck. So I’m honestly more surprised to hear Seeker bassist/vocalist Bryce Lucien says nice things about the label than I am to hear that they’ve been rejected for potential tours as a result of being on the label.

Lucien tells Exclaim (transcription courtesy of The PRP):

“There’s just kind of this roadblock of being on Victory. We’re starting to break through it now that we’re getting to know everybody. We’ve had agents—you know when we get submitted for tours—we make a lot of sense on. [They] come back and they’ll be like ‘no Victory bands’ or ‘not interested, no Victory.’ They won’t even listen to us, they just stop at the label—which sucks, ’cause they’ve [Victory Records] been awesome.

“They’ve pushed us super hard. We’ve gotten a lot more support. We’ve gotten to do a lot of things that bands like us, our size, don’t normally get to do. They’re a great label and the people there are outstanding, super helpful and easy to deal with.”

Obviously it would be difficult for Lucien to talk smack about the label his band is on right now, but he can’t be too shocked by this issue — again, Victory has a horrible reputation, and a lot of people have gotten burned working with them. That’s not to say there aren’t some great people at the label, as Lucien claims — but shit trickles downhill, and Victory founder/head honcho Tony Brummel has definitely taken some pretty big shits from atop his apex.

The silver lining is that despite this, Seeker may very well have the busiest touring schedule in metal right now. So they can’t be hurting too bad.
