Twins Peaks mania is in full swing! First, Pig Destroyer appeared, somewhat bafflingly, in a new promo for the David Lynch show’s Showtime revival; now Dan Briggs, bassist for Between the Buried and Me, has covered the show’s theme, “Falling,” which was originally written by Lynch and composer Angelo Badalamenti and performed by Julee Cruise. It. Explains Briggs:

“When I was in college I started down the rabbit hole of everything David Lynch and have found so much inspiration in his work over the years. This is a song that has haunted me for most of my life as I was 6 when the series originally aired and my parents were immersed in it. I really wanted to put my spin on it as it’s probably the most gorgeous three chord song in existence; and I wanted the end of the song to feel like you were being sucked into the Black Lodge.”

I tell ya what: Briggs did a great job with it. Maybe if they make a Twin Peaks mixtape, like HBO has done for Game of Thrones, whomever is in charge of it will get wise and include this.

Here’s the original, if you’ve never heard it…
