Brendon Small’s Galaktikton Teases 50 Seconds of Music from New Album

GalaktikonBrendon Small’s Galaktikon — the solo outfit of the Metalocalypse/Dethklok creator — is not only getting a six-part comic series this coming August, but a new album too.

Galaktikon II: Become The Storm — Small’s second album under the Galaktikon moniker — will come out on August 25th via Megaforce Records, and Nerdist has shared a preview clip of music in 360° video form. The album was produced by Dethklok producer Ulrich Wild and once again features both Gene Hoglan and Bryan Beller, so it should have plenty of balls despite lacking the Dethklok label.

Then again, maybe not. Offers small on the effort:

“To be honest, I listened to very little metal while making this. It’s nice to not be influenced by current trends and instead go back 20 or more years. I was listening to Paul Simon’s first solo album, Paul Simon, after watching an old interview on the Dick Cavett show. I was very excited to hear his through-composed style of writing on the song ‘Everything Put Together Falls Apart.’ Not terribly metal though.

“There are moments where I’m influenced by Billy Joel and Duran Duran–again, not metal. Of course I’m influenced by Soundgarden, Queen, Weezer, Metallica, ELO… Then I’ll take all this stuff and add gallons of distortion and add crazy double kicks–care of the mighty Gene Hoglan. Then, finally, it becomes metal.”

In other words: this should be an interesting one! Take a listen below.
