Wacken Open Air is Building a Beer Pipeline for This Year’s Festival

0

Wacken is second to none when it comes to summer metal festivals.

Germany is second to none when it comes to beer consumption. And so are metalheads.

Combine all those things into one? They’re building AN ACTUAL BEER PIPELINE for this year’s Wacken, set to take place August 3rd through 5th.

Metal Insider tells us [via TheLocal.de] that the reasons are both practical and environmental. The pipeline will transport 400,000 liters of beer and allow for six beers to be poured every second from one centralized system instead of having to truck in keg after keg and worry about re-tapping them constantly. Everyone wins! Additional pipelines will be installed for drinking water, power, fiber optics and sewage, making for a full-on, mini-city infrastructure.

Those who attend Wacken this year should be sure to let us know how the beer pipeline functions: is it speedy? Frosty? Fresh?
