Slipknot Tease Latest Knotfest; Corey Taylor Says New Album Coming “Maybe in Another Year and a Half”

Slipknot have been releasing a serious mysterious video teasers this week, which suggests that the band is up to… something.

The videos have each been accompanied by a countdown — “Soon,” “3 Days,” and “2 Days” — which ends today; meanwhile, the band’s website has a countdown clock which will end around 10 am PDT/1 pm EDT. A lot of people seem to think it’s an announcement for a new edition of Knotfest, which certainly makes sense.

But where will this Knotfest take place? Although the images in the above clips clearly suggest the location to be New Jersey, the last video in the series indicates it will in fact be in Mexico:

One thing we know for sure these videos aren’t teasing: a new Slipknot album. And we know that because Corey Taylor tells Loudwire that it’s still too soon for that, saying that the next ‘Knot record will come out in “Maybe in another year and a half, something like that.” So figure late 2018 or otherwise 2019. Which may sound like a long time from now, but think of it this way: it will probably still come out before the new Tool album.
