Update, 11:46 a.m.: Lambgoat points out that both tracks are now online! WHAT A GREAT DAY TO BE ALIVE!!!

I’m just listening to “Eve” for the first time now, but it sounds like Converge channeling Alice in Chains. I think I like it even more than “I Can Tell You About Pain.”

Original story follows…

Converge have made good on their teasing and announced a new offering: a two-song 7″/digital release, which will include the new tracks “I Can Tell You About Pain” and “Eve.” You can check out the first of the pair via the below video (courtesy of NPR). I know how impatient Converge fans can be so just go listen and we’ll meet back up to discuss in the next paragraph, okay?

Well, I dunno about you cats, but I certainly feel like I was just violated with mace. Converge haven’t lost a step.

Interestingly, the other track on the EP, “Eve,” is described by NPR as “a doomy and bracing seven minutes.” So we’ll be getting some different Converge flavors, which is nice. Variety is the spice of blah blah blah and all that.

The press release doesn’t specify when this thing is coming out, but in addition to an online release, the 7″ will be available for sale on the band’s upcoming tour with Neurosis and Amenra, which kicks off July 28. So it seems safe to assume that the digital edition will drop around the same time.
